KEYFORT provide independent travel training to support individuals with disabilities, learning difficulties, mobility or sensory impairments who would usually use transport (e.g. private taxi or passenger transport) to travel specific routes safely. Travel Training is completed on a 1:1 basis and takes a step back approach to gradually increase trainees independence until they have demonstrated that they are confident and able to safely make the journey independently.
KEYFORT are able to offer Open College Network (OCN) accredited independent travel training to individuals on successful completion of the travel training programme which can be tailored to meet differing abilities. The training includes road and personal safety awareness, stranger danger, safe people and places as well as transferable skills such as managing money, time and problem solving.
KEYFORT currently work in partnership with three councils across North England and can deliver support with managing referrals, providing assessments including initial, risk and/or journey assessments, journey plans, travel training, sign off and evaluation.
KEYFORT offer tailored support to meet the needs of the individual they work with and for the local commissioner.
