Female Support Worker – Zero Hours – Whitehaven

Contract type; Bank

Shift pattern(s) available; Monday to Friday, occasional weekend short shifts (4 hours) to support during times of annual leave and sick absence. Typical sessions are 10am to 2pm, 4pm to 8pm or 9am to 5pm.

Essential Criteria; Drivers with access to their own car due to social community elements in some of the role and also, given location of cases, there are sometimes limited public transport services in the area.

Case 1 – Person Specific Information; The lady we support has care needs which include; basic medication management, meal preparation, minimal personal care needs, assistance to attend medical appointments, support her with outings in to the community and, general household tasks.

This supported lady lives in her own flat with her cat who she adores and her interests are: 80s music, arcades and anything sports especially darts! It would be beneficial for applicants to share same interests but this is not essential. The main focus of the package is to provide social support to the lady, so approachable, down to earth and chatty personalities would fit best for the supported lady who can join in with her plentiful banter!

Case 2 – Person Specific Information; The lady we support lives in her own home to maintain independence while working from home on Thursdays and Fridays. She works for a travel agency specialising in accessibility-focused travel.

The role involves providing basic care, including washing, dressing, meal preparation, assistance during meals, toileting, and light household chores. Strong time management skills are essential to help maintain her structured daily routine, which is particularly important due to her autism diagnosis.

The lady has four pet rats and a cat, so applicants must be comfortable around and animals. Responsibilities include assisting with the daily handling routine of the pet rats, using a pet carrier for her to interact with them.

Additional info: Occasionally, drivers may need to undertake tasks such as picking up prescriptions or delivering samples to the GP. Mileage and expenses for these tasks will be reimbursed. Any transport costs incurred for community outings with the lady will also be covered, we pay mileage at 0.45p per mile.

The goal of these bespoke packages of care is to support the ladies to live independently in their own homes. A range of person centred tasks will be required from you including; medication management, social support, moving and handling and clinical support.

Applicants must have an adaptable approach to meet the needs of the personalities of all those we support.
