Contract type; Part time
Shift pattern available; Shifts will be day shifts (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6am – 2pm and Tuesday, Thursday 8am – 4pm
Essential Criteria; Driver with access to their vehicle (with business insurance) for ad hoc social and community outings
Desirable Criteria; Male team members would be preferred, however, if you are a resilient and experienced female, we would be willing to explore this with you.
Role Requirements; We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic support worker to join our team with experience working with brain injury patients, providing essential care and support for a 44-year-old man with a Traumatic Brain Injury.
As a support worker, you will be a positive role model and engage in his interests alongside him, as well as help provide routine and structure on a daily basis.
His brain injury has left him with limited use in his right arm and would like support with meal prepping, getting dressed and making cups of tea. It also affected his short-term memory loss which he would support for booking and attending appointments, timekeeping and to be kept company in general. He has his own strategies to manage his emotions and it will important to support him with these.
He is a massive Newcastle fan and enjoys going to and watching the football. He is also an ex-strongman and ex-military and enjoys spending a lot of his time in the gym so you will need to be fit and pro-active! He has a great sense of humour and has a strong liking for motorbikes and cars.
You’ll be a good fit for to join this team if you are: A Newcastle fan with a lot of resilience and a great sense of humour!
Experience in health or social care is helpful but not essential – the right person is more important than the perfect CV.
